Mt Greenoch Walk,

Central Goldfields Bushwalking and Hiking Club

On 30 August 2025 the Central Goldfields Bushwalking and Hiking Club aimed to catch the early morning train from Maryborough to Talbot and then walk from Talbot Station to the top of Mount Greenoch and back.

Unfortunately the train didn’t arrive but a great day was had anyway. It was a chilly morning but the views from the top were simply breathtaking!

Mt Greenoch offers rich geological, Indigenous and mining history. Native grasses and tree violets can be seen as well. This is such a special place but most people don’t realise that the whole volcanic mountain is a common, meaning that it is crown land that you can freely visit at any time.

Connectable by train, this is a wonderful low emissions adventure for locals and city visitors to enjoy!
